As part of our “thought leadership” initiatives, Link Legal India Law Services have developed a forum for exchange of information between professionals on active trends, regulatory changes and market conditions and have been actively holding workshops/events on various relevant topics both in India and outside.
We have a strong arbitration and claims & disputes management practice and the recent amendments to the Arbitration Act effective from October 2015, have created a great deal of momentum in the field of arbitration. Time bound arbitration is now a reality and parties can now reasonably expect their disputes to be resolved in 12 (twelve) months. Also, steps are being taken to promote India as a preferred arbitration destination for resolving international business disputes, with the opening of Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA), the first international arbitration centre in India in October 2016.
Link Legal India Law Services took the initiative of bringing together General Counsels and Business Heads of various companies located in Mumbai to participate in the Knowledge Sharing Session on “Arbitration – International Best Practices & Recent Indian Amendments” at Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai, on September 19, 2017 (Tuesday) which was hosted by Link Legal India Law Services along with Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration.
The first technical session was taken by Mr. Martin Harman, CBE, our Chair International Business, who shared his international experiences and the international best practices on arbitration which was then followed by a session on domestic arbitrations where Mr. Atul Sharma, Managing Partner, Mr. Sidhartha Srivastava, Partner, Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Associate Partner, and Ms. Neeti Sachdeva, Mumbai Center for International Arbitration participated as panellists and discussed the recent amendments on the Arbitration & Conciliation Act and how the Indian amendments play out vis-à-vis the international best practices.
It was an interactive session with at-least 50 attendees participating in the session, sharing their experiences and raising various queries. This is one of the many series of knowledge sharing sessions conducted by the Firm.
