Link Legal recently held a knowledge sharing session on “Recent Trends in Renewable Sector – Issues & Mitigation” and “Electric Vehicle (EVs) – Existing Framework for EVs & Opportunities”. Various industry leaders from the Renewable Energy industry attended the Event. The event took place on February 28, 2018 at Vivanta by Taj Ambassador, New Delhi.

The session was a part of our “Thought Leadership” initiative, where we invite professionals from the industry, government and experts in our firm to exchange and discuss their views on regulatory and policy issues and to take forward the industry views to relevant government entity.

Shri Jatindra Nath Swain, IAS, Managing Director, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) was the keynote speaker and shared his views on Renewable Energy and EVs.

The knowledge sharing session comprised of a panel discussion on the topic “Role of Regulator in Non-Conventional Energy” in addition to the technical sessions on the topics “Renewable Sector – Issues and Mitigation” and “Electric Vehicle (EVs) – Existing Framework for EVs and Opportunities”.

For the panel discussion on “Role of Regulator in Non-Conventional Energy”, the firm brought together a panel of experts comprising of Mr. Manoj Kohli, Executive Chairman, SB Energy, Mr. Ranjit Gupta, CEO, Ostro Energy and Mr. Rahul Singh Gill, Managing Partner, Hodson Renewables who shared their expert views on the topic. Our Managing Partner Mr. Atul Sharma and renewables sector specializing Partner Mr. Dinesh Pardasani were moderators and shared their key experiences.

As part of the technical sessions on the “Renewable Sector – Issues and Mitigation”, various issues in renewable sector and possible solutions were discussed along with updates and various recent changes in law and its consequent impact on renewable sector. In the other technical session on “Electric Vehicle (EVs) – Existing Framework for EVs and Opportunities”, the discussion revolved around the existing framework for EVs including the issues in the Electricity Act, 2003 and in the distribution and charging infrastructure. Also, various recommendations for the smooth implementation and evolution of EVs were shared. Mr. Dinesh Pardasani, Partner and Mr. Shashwat Kumar, Partner were the speakers for both the technical sessions.

It was an interactive session with representatives from more than 30 companies participating and sharing their experiences.
